There are certain factors in life that may cause you to have Chromium deficiency. Studies have shown that as people age Chromium levels in the body are reduced and that available reserves of Chromium for the body to use is limited. Also, people who have diets high in simple sugars cause an increase of Chromium excretion in the urine. Infections or illness may also reduce Chromium levels in the body. Studies have also found that extreme exercise, pregnancy, and lactation will increase Chromium use and can cause lower levels of available Chromium in the body. Stress has also been found to reduce Chromium absorption and increase Chromium use which can then cause Chromium deficiency.
